Get Involved

The popular understanding of our world today is that the
heart is the muscle we need for a revolution.”

A decolonized community is able to acknowledge the full truth of the past, embraces the full truth of the present and commits to creating a just future, undaunted by obstacles.

Non-Native people do not own the language of decolonization and must become students of decolonization, following the leadership of Wabanaki people.

The more we learn, the more we might want to do something to make things better. Here are some ways you can get involved in standing for Wabanaki self-determination:

  • Participate in a REACH Workshop to learn about a shared history and ways allies are taking actions for change.
  • Attend a community Event or REACH presentation
Learn about and get involved in the current Call to Action, an opportunity to stand for Wabanaki wellness and self-determination
  • Make a Donation to support REACH’s work – for instance, supporting the healing circles that are happening with Wabanaki people who are inmates in Maine’s prisons, jails and re-entry centers
  • Take emotions that arise in you and use them as fuel for action.
  • Learn all you can about history and current issues.
  • Share what you learn with others. Begin the courageous conversations that can help spark positive change in your community.
  • Spread the word, talk with family, friends and co-workers.

Be a part of this community by joining the REACH mailing list to learn about what’s happening around this territory.
